What information we collect
When you use SideStack, we collect the following:
- Your email address, which you provide voluntarily before viewing your results
- Your intake answers — business type, stage, budget, tech comfort level, goals, and any free-text you choose to share about your business
- The timestamp of your submission
- Basic usage data through Google Analytics, including pages visited and general location (country/region level only)
We do not collect payment information. SideStack is free and does not require an account.
How we use your information
Your information is used solely to:
- Generate and deliver your personalized tool recommendations
- Email you your results so you can reference them later
- Send a single follow-up reminder approximately 90 days after your submission
- Improve SideStack over time by understanding how people use the service
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Affiliate link disclosure
SideStack earns commissions when you click a recommended tool link and make a purchase or sign up for a paid plan. These are affiliate relationships. The tools we recommend are chosen based on what we genuinely believe is the best fit for your situation — not based on commission rates. We disclose affiliate links by labeling them as partner links where applicable.
This disclosure is made in compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials.
How we store your information
Your intake answers and email are stored in Airtable, a cloud-based database service. Your results email is delivered via SendGrid. Your AI-generated recommendations are processed through Anthropic's Claude API. Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data security practices.
We retain your submission data indefinitely for internal analytics and service improvement. You may request deletion at any time by emailing us.
Email communications
By providing your email address, you consent to receive:
- Your personalized SideStack results (immediate, one-time)
- A single follow-up reminder approximately 90 days after your submission
We do not send promotional blasts or newsletters unless you explicitly opt in elsewhere. You can unsubscribe from any email by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of that email or by emailing us directly.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use mysidestack.com. This may involve the use of cookies. Google Analytics collects anonymized data including pages visited, time on site, and general geographic location. We do not use this data to identify individual users.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Unsubscribe from any email communications
To exercise any of these rights, email us at doug@mysidestack.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
SideStack is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through our site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of SideStack after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
